Walt Larimore, MD 

Dr. Larimore is a prolific author and has published forty books, thirty medical textbook chapters, and over 1,000 articles in a variety of medical journals and lay magazines. His best-selling books include Bryson City Tales, Bryson City Seasons, and Alternative Medicine: The Christian Handbook.

His books have garnered a number of national awards, including three Gold Medallion Award nominations, three Silver Medallion Awards, a Retailer’s Choice Award, and a Book of the Year Award from ECPA. An early draft of an upcoming WWII book received two international Page Turner Awards — Finalist Award and Patron Award..

Dr. Larimore currently posts a twice-a-day topical devotional (www.Devotional.DrWalt.com) and a medical and health news blog (www.DrWalt.com/blog) for which he has posted over 5000 articles. He also writes a health column, Ask Dr. Walt, for Today’s Christian Living magazine, as well as a column, Vaccine News You Can Use, for Colorado Family Physician.

MEDICAL JOURNALIST

Since 2021, Dr. Larimore has hosted two shows on LiftableTV: (1) the weekly “Ask Dr. Walt” show and the daily feature, “Daily Apple: Medical News You Can Use.”

He also hosts a weekly show where he interviews best-selling authors called “The Inside Story: Conversations on the art – and the heart – of writing.”

As a medical journalist, from 1996 to 2001, Dr. Larimore hosted over 850 episodes of the daily, live Ask the Family Doctor show on Fox’s Health Network, being awarded the prestigious Gracie Award by the American Women in Radio and Television in 2000. From 2002 to 2004, Dr. Larimore hosted the Focus on Your Family’s Health – a nationally syndicated radio and TV feature.

AS A FAMILY PHYSICIAN

Dr. Larimore has been listed in the Best Doctors in America, Distinguished Physicians of America, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the World, and the International Health Professionals of the Year.

His MD degree is from Louisiana State University, with AOA Honors, while his Family Medicine residency, with an emphasis in Sports Medicine, was at the Duke University Medical Center, where he was named one of the top twelve Family Medicine residents in the nation. He also completed a Queen’s Teaching Fellowship in Nottingham, England.

After his training, Dr. Larimore practiced for four years in the Smoky Mountains before moving to Central Florida to practice for 16 years. From 1993-1994 he served as the President of the Florida Academy of Family Physicians. In 1996, he was named America’s Outstanding Family Medicine Educator (the Thomas W. Johnson Award) by the American Academy of Family Physicians. In 2000, the Christian Medical Association named Dr. and Mrs. Larimore Educators of the Year.

The Larimores relocated to Colorado in 2001, where he first served as Vice President and Physician in Residence at Focus on the Family (2001-2004), and later served as the Medical Director for Mission Medical Clinic (2008-2012). Since 2012, Dr. Larimore has served as an occupational health physician at Concentra and more recently at UCHealth in Colorado Springs.

Dr. and Mrs. Larimore reside in Colorado Springs, have two adult children, and two beautiful granddaughters.

Dónal O’Mathúna, PhD, has degrees in pharmacy, medicinal chemistry, and theology (focused on bioethics). He is a lecturer in healthcare ethics in the School of Nursing at Dublin City University, Ireland.
